People differ in what they enjoy and whether or when they experience orgasm. There is no guaranteed technique or timetable that applies to everyone.
Ask rather than assume
What one person enjoys may not suit another, and preferences can change with the setting or day. A conversation about comfort and preferences can happen outside an intimate moment. Use the language each person prefers and leave room for uncertainty. You do not need an elaborate sexual vocabulary to ask what feels welcome.
Remove the performance target
Making orgasm the required ending can create pressure to continue an unwanted activity or pretend that something feels good. An encounter can be enjoyable without reaching a particular outcome. Neither person owes proof of pleasure. Avoid treating a partner’s response as a score of your skill or their attraction.
Keep feedback and consent ongoing
Ask simple questions, listen, and respect a change of mind. Physical arousal or orgasm does not establish consent, and an involuntary response does not make an unwanted experience acceptable. Agreement to one kind of intimacy also does not establish agreement to everything else. Pleasure and consent must not be confused.
Separate a concern from a diagnosis
If a change is distressing, persistent, associated with pain, or occurs after a medication change, discuss it with a qualified clinician rather than changing treatment yourself. Online promises of universal tricks or supplements are not individualized care. For ordinary communication, curiosity and respect are more useful than insisting that someone’s body respond on demand.
