Electric razors differ in what can be rinsed, removed, brushed, or lubricated. A model-specific routine is more useful than a universal cleaning trick.
Identify what your razor allows
Find the model number and its care instructions before using water or cleaning chemicals. A washable shaving head does not necessarily mean the entire appliance can be submerged. Check whether the manufacturer specifies dry cleaning, rinsing, or a dedicated cleaning station. If the manual is missing, use the manufacturer’s support information rather than guessing.
Turn it off and disconnect power
Switch the razor off and unplug it before cleaning. Keep the charger and electrical connections away from water. Do not treat an appliance described as suitable for wet shaving as permission to use it while connected to mains power. Follow the specific electrical-safety directions supplied with the device.
Remove loose hair carefully
Open or remove only the components identified in the instructions. Empty loose clippings and use the recommended cleaning tool without pressing hard on delicate cutting surfaces. Some parts should not be brushed directly. Avoid dismantling matched cutting assemblies unless the manufacturer explains how to keep them correctly paired and reassemble them.
Use only the permitted cleaning method
Rinse approved parts only as directed, with the specified water temperature and cleaning products where applicable. Do not substitute bleach, household solvents, or a homemade disinfectant mixture. If a cleaning station is required or recommended, follow its refill and maintenance instructions. Cleaning is not the same as medical sterilization, and sharing a razor is not advisable.
Dry, inspect, and store
Allow parts to dry as instructed before reassembly or storage. Lubricate only when the manual calls for it, using the recommended product. Replace damaged or worn components according to the manufacturer’s guidance, particularly if the razor begins pulling or scratching. A clean razor does not justify shaving repeatedly over painful or irritated skin.
